Remii is described for indoor or outdoor applications. Modern Flames and EUHOMY are included for comparison, but their supplied product details do not confirm outdoor suitability.

Touchstone Sideline 50-Inch Outdoor Fireplace
Best for: Homeowners who want a wide, flame-only feature on an exterior patio wall. This model is 50 inches wide and is designed for outdoor placement, with a built-in GFI plug and water-resistant construction. Its decorative flames do not produce heat, which can suit spaces where the fireplace is intended for ambiance rather than warmth.
The unit supports recessed or wall-mounted installation. Its flame display offers three colors, and the package includes log and crystal media. The listed exterior surfaces include siding, brick, stucco, and stone, although specialty anchors or other hardware may be needed depending on the surface.
Limitation: It provides no heater, so choose another type of appliance if you need outdoor heat. Confirm installation and electrical requirements for the intended location.
SimpliFire Forum 43-Inch Outdoor Fireplace
Best for: Buyers who prioritize selectable flame and ember-bed colors. The Forum is described as having a weatherproof design for outdoor use and provides four flame options plus 13 ember-bed colors. A remote control is included for operation.
It can be finished with materials flush to the edge for a clean appearance or installed with the included overlap front for a framed look. This makes it a useful choice when the finished appearance of the opening is an important part of the project.
Limitation: The supplied product details do not state that it provides heat or specify its installation dimensions. Check the manufacturer’s current instructions for cutout and site requirements before planning a built-in installation.
Remii 45-Inch Extra Slim Fireplace
Best for: Buyers needing a shallow fireplace profile for an indoor or outdoor application. The product is described as rated for either setting and measures only four inches deep, making it the shallowest model in this comparison based on the supplied information.
Its flame presentation can shift among yellow, orange, and red using the remote. Choose this model if limited wall depth is a key constraint and you want adjustable flame color in a fireplace listed for outdoor use.
Limitation: The provided details do not specify weatherproofing, a GFI plug, or heating capability. Verify the installation and exposure requirements for your exact location before buying.
Modern Flames Landscape Pro Slim 68-Inch
Best for: Buyers comparing wide built-in displays. This model measures 68 inches wide, 23.75 inches high, and 5.5 inches deep. Its back flame and ember bed can be controlled independently or together, and a remote is included.
The large viewing area and separate flame and ember controls distinguish it from the other listed options. However, the supplied details do not say that this model is approved or designed for outdoor installation.
Limitation: Do not assume it is suitable for patios or weather exposure. Confirm outdoor-use specifications with the manufacturer before considering it for an exterior location.
EUHOMY 50-Inch Recessed Fireplace
Best for: Indoor buyers who want both adjustable flames and supplemental heating options. The 50-inch unit can be recessed or wall-mounted and includes log and crystal media. Its listed features include 12 flame colors, 12 fuel-bed colors, five flame brightness settings, a timer, and operation with or without heat.
It is described as a 750W/1500W heater and includes installation hardware and a manual. The listing also states that two years of technical support are provided.
Limitation: Outdoor suitability is not established in the supplied details. Its indoor-oriented description is not evidence of weather resistance, so do not place it outdoors without explicit manufacturer approval.
Buying Guide: How to Choose an Outdoor Electric Fireplace
Is the unit explicitly rated for outdoor use?
Start with the manufacturer’s stated application, not appearance. The Touchstone and SimpliFire listings specify outdoor use, while Remii is described for indoor or outdoor applications. The supplied details for Modern Flames and EUHOMY do not confirm outdoor suitability. A feature-rich indoor model should not be treated as weatherproof by default.
Do you want heat or decorative flames?
Both the Touchstone and SimpliFire are described as no-heat models. They are intended for visual ambiance rather than warming a patio. EUHOMY lists heater settings, but its outdoor rating is not established here. For any exterior installation, confirm that the specific model is designed for that environment before considering heating features.
How should you compare size and installation?
Measure the available wall area and planned opening before choosing a width. The listed models range from 43 to 68 inches wide, and the Remii is only four inches deep. Check the manufacturer’s required clearances, cutout dimensions, mounting method, and hardware requirements. Exterior surfaces such as masonry may need specialty anchors.
Which flame controls matter?
Compare the listed options rather than relying on broad claims about realism. Touchstone offers three flame colors; SimpliFire lists four flame options and 13 ember-bed colors; Remii changes among yellow, orange, and red. Consider whether a remote, independent flame and ember controls, or brightness adjustment matters for everyday use.
What should you verify before installation?
Confirm the product’s outdoor rating, electrical requirements, exposure limits, mounting instructions, and local installation requirements. A GFI plug is specifically listed for Touchstone, but that detail should not be assumed for other models. Ask the manufacturer about the intended location if the product information does not clearly address weather exposure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can an indoor electric fireplace be installed outside?
Not unless the manufacturer confirms that the exact model is designed for outdoor use. The supplied details do not establish outdoor suitability for the Modern Flames or EUHOMY models.
Do these outdoor models provide heat?
The Touchstone Sideline and SimpliFire Forum are described as no-heat fireplaces. The Remii listing does not specify heating capability.
Which listed model is the shallowest?
The Remii Extra Slim is listed as four inches deep. Confirm its installation requirements for the planned wall before purchase.
Which model offers the most ember-bed color choices?
The SimpliFire Forum lists 13 ember-bed colors, along with four flame options.
Does a GFI plug mean a fireplace can be exposed to any weather?
No. A GFI plug is an electrical safety feature, not a guarantee of unrestricted weather exposure. Follow the fireplace’s installation and exposure instructions.
